Volkswagen is continuing the trend it began with the ID Polo of returning to classic model names in its electric vehicle lineup and will also launch an ID Tiguan. This model is actually a facelift of the ID 4. “The established name is intended to provide customers with guidance and, as a strong product brand, stands for a clearly defined vehicle concept,” VW states. The electric SUV will be offered alongside the current Tiguan with internal combustion engines and will also replace the ID 5, which is being discontinued.
The new VW will make its world debut on October 9, shortly before the Paris Motor Show. It is expected to be available starting early next year. Volkswagen has not yet released any technical details. (aum)
