The VW ID 3 raises the GTI bar a bit higher

VW will begin taking preorders for the ID 3 GTI early next year. With 240 kW (326 PS), it is the most powerful production GTI to date. The rear-wheel-drive model, equipped with standard Launch Control, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, delivers a maximum torque of 545 Newton-meters, and reaches a (limited) top speed of 200 km/h. The ID 3 GTI’s lithium-ion battery has a net energy capacity of 79 kWh. It can be charged at up to 183 kilowatts. The manufacturer promises a range of up to 600 kilometers.

The VW ID.3 GTI features a DCC sport suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as a red 12 o'clock marker on the multifunction sport steering wheel. A subtle red stripe runs across the entire width of the dashboard as a GTI emblem, and the upholstery on the sport seats reinterprets the tartan pattern of the first Golf GTI seats from 1976 with the “Superclark” design. In addition to the “Eco,” “Comfort,” “Sport,” and “Individual” driving modes, there is a special “GTI” mode. Five exterior colors are available, including the classic Tornado Red. (aum)
