Electricity, Speed, and Streaming: Peugeot Brings the E-208 GTi to Gamescom

When Gamescom transforms the Cologne exhibition halls into a mecca for gaming and digital pop culture at the end of August, Peugeot will be there. The brand with the lion logo is using its appearance on Rocket Beans TV for the German premiere of its first all-electric 208 GTi—and is combining the thrill of electric driving with virtual laps at Spa-Francorchamps.

Gamescom and GTi: At first glance, this combination may seem surprising—but upon closer inspection, it’s a perfect fit. On one hand, there’s the digital world, high scores, and community events; on the other, a time-honored sports acronym that stands for compact, high-performance cars and instant thrills. Peugeot is bringing both together in Cologne and will continue its partnership with Rocket Beans TV in 2026.

From August 26 to 30, the brand will be represented at the internet broadcaster’s booth in Hall 9.1, Booth A046. The spotlight will be on the new Peugeot E-208 GTi, which will be on public display in Germany for the first time at Gamescom. For the French automaker, the model is more than just a sporty version of its electric compact car: it marks the return of the GTi concept—this time with a charging port instead of an exhaust pipe.

A Whopping 281 PS in the Little Lion

The E-208 GTi was developed in collaboration with Peugeot Sport and is designed to carry the brand’s sporting tradition into the electric era. Its M4+ electric motor delivers 207 kW (281 PS) and provides 345 Nm of torque. According to Peugeot, this enables the compact electric car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds; top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h. The brand with the lion emblem promises a specially tuned suspension, an optimized braking system, and an interior consistently geared toward performance. The goal: a particularly direct, precise driving experience—the very character that once made the GTi designation famous.

At Gamescom, however, the focus will initially be on getting to know the car better. Anyone who wants to know how the electric GTi feels on the road will have to wait for the first test drives. Visually and technically, though, the E-208 GTi should provide plenty to talk about in Cologne, precisely because it transforms a classic sports model into a new, electric iteration.

In line with its target audience, Peugeot is focusing not only on the car’s design and performance specs but also on interaction. Two full-fledged sim-racing rigs are available for visitors. Racing takes place on the virtual version of the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit—a fitting stage for anyone who’d rather test their driving skills digitally first.

But it’s not just about lap times and virtual curbs: Participants can win tickets to the Beanscom “Dosenbeatz” party, which takes place on Friday, August 28. The booth thus becomes a small intersection between gaming, the thrill of motorsports, and event culture.

Rocket Beans TV will cover Gamescom from Tuesday evening through Sunday afternoon with a live program featuring tours of the expo, quiz shows, and competitions. With its presence at the Hamburg-based online media platform’s booth, Peugeot is securing a spot right in the heart of the gaming community—and giving its new electric GTi a debut that’s meant to be much more than a traditional trade show appearance.
