New Marco Polo: Mercedes is launching the camper with a fresh new look
Mercedes-Benz is fundamentally refining its premium Marco Polo camper, focusing on comfort, lighting, connectivity, and everyday practicality. Thanks to the new pop-up roof, clever ambient lighting, optimized blackout features, and the upgraded MBAC system, the van feels noticeably more modern. In Germany, orders are scheduled to open on August 5, 2026.
Mercedes-Benz is launching a significantly upgraded version of the Marco Polo, with a particular focus on comfort. At the heart of the redesign is the new pop-up roof with a sturdy double-shell aluminum construction. Not only is it designed to be more stable, but thanks to a bellows in the rear section that’s been raised by ten centimeters, it also provides more space for sitting and sleeping. This transforms the camper into a noticeably more airy retreat on wheels.
Added to this is the new lighting concept featuring LED ambient lighting integrated all around the pop-up roof. Depending on the mood, this allows for a variety of lighting atmospheres—from crisp and clear to warm and cozy. Starting at the end of the year, a new sliding roof and—for the first time—a panoramic opening in the bellows will provide even more natural light and fresh air inside the cabin. Especially at night, this unobstructed view of the sky is sure to have its own unique charm.
The motorhome is also practical for everyday use. The newly designed awning can now be easily installed and removed. This is particularly convenient at car washes, for example, while the crank handle tucks away into the bracket to save space. This is complemented by magnetic blackout solutions that provide more privacy and quieter nights. Small improvements to folding tables, drawers, the control panel, and the cooler round out the comfort package.
The Marco Polo has also made strides in the digital realm: The enhanced MBAC system (Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control) transforms the camper even further into a connected companion. The central control and command center allows you to conveniently operate nearly all living area functions via the cockpit display or a smartphone app.
With just a few clicks, you can adjust the ambient lighting or control the new sound system, which features eight speakers and a subwoofer to deliver rich sound both while driving and at your campsite. It’s just as easy to control the lights, the heater, the cooler, and the pop-up roof remotely or directly from the driver’s seat.
A key aspect is production: While the V-Class, which serves as the base model, continues to roll off the assembly line at the Vitoria plant in Spain, the Marco Polo will be assembled at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfelde in the future. For the manufacturer, this restructuring means the highest level of quality control, shorter processes, and greater flexibility in production.
