Geely Finds a European Manufacturing Partner

Geely plans to begin producing vehicles in Europe in 2028 at the Ford plant in Almussafes, Spain, near Valencia. The two companies announced today an agreement to establish a joint venture focused on the European market. The Chinese partner initially plans to produce two new-energy models.
The facility in Spain has a total annual production capacity of up to 500,000 vehicles. Under the planned ownership structure, Geely will hold 34 percent and Ford 66 percent of the joint venture. The two automakers have known each other since 2010, when Ford sold the Swedish brand Volvo to Geely. (aum)
