The most popular electric car in Germany is made by Skoda. With 20,139 registrations in the first half of the year, the Elroq topped the list of new BEV registrations. That’s 10,745 more vehicles than in the same period last year (9,394 vehicles) and represents an increase of 114.4 percent. Skoda’s overall market share in the electric vehicle segment rose by one percentage point to 10 percent. This puts it in second place behind VW.

By far the most popular powertrain option is the Elroq 85. Overall, the rear-wheel-drive version paired with the largest high-voltage battery accounted for a good 47 percent of sales. The Elroq 85 models deliver 210 kW (286 PS) and, with their 82 kWh (79 kWh net) battery, offer an electric range of up to 576 kilometers. More than 30 percent of Elroq customers prefer a sporty driving experience: A good 12 percent opted for the top-of-the-line RS model with 250 kW (340 PS) and all-wheel drive, while the rest chose Sportline versions with varying power levels and battery sizes.
