The Hyundai Ioniq 3 is coming this fall
This fall, Hyundai will launch the Ioniq 3, its first electric car in the compact class. In keeping with the sub-brand’s previous direction, it is not an SUV, but a streamlined hatchback. Hyundai says the interior is designed to exude a pleasant, cozy atmosphere. Various soft color combinations for the interior and upholstery are intended to contribute to this.
The infotainment system comes with about ten pre-installed third-party apps right out of the box, with more to follow by the end of the year. The central screen measures 12.9 or 14.6 inches, depending on the trim level, while a slim, driver-oriented display brings the most important driving information into the driver’s field of view.
For the powertrain, Hyundai relies on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with 400-volt architecture. The electric motor produces 108 kW (147 PS) and delivers a maximum torque of 250 Newton-meters. The top speed is 170 km/h. Two battery options are available; with the larger battery, the WLTP range is nearly 500 kilometers.
The Ioniq 3 was developed at Hyundai’s European research center in Rüsselsheim and is built in Turkey. (aum)
