Stellantis presents new mega-platform STLA One

Stellantis has unveiled STLA One, a new global vehicle architecture to be introduced from 2027. The modular platform is designed to merge five previous architectures into one scalable system. The aim is to reduce complexity in development and production while covering more vehicle segments and drive types.

STLA One will serve the B, C and D segments and support different vehicle sizes as well as different energy sources. According to the Group, the modular design from the ground up should improve cost efficiency by 20 percent. In addition to standardized interfaces, flexible battery options and greater reusability of components should also contribute to this.

The platform is part of an overarching optimization strategy: Stellantis aims to bundle 50 percent of its production volume on just three global platforms by 2030. The aim is to be able to reuse up to 70 percent of components. This should not only shorten development times, but also stabilize the supply chain and strengthen competitiveness.

STLA One marks an important technological step, as it is the first Stellantis architecture to be prepared for the integration of STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit and Steer-by-Wire. In this way, the Group aims to accelerate software rollouts and at the same time give the brands more room for maneuver.

The battery strategy includes the increased use of LFP cells to reduce costs and raw material dependencies, as well as cell-to-body integration, in which the battery is incorporated into the vehicle structure. STLA One is also designed for 800-volt technology, which should enable faster charging times and an improved "electric car experience".

In the long term, STLA One is set to develop into a mega-platform: More than 30 models and a volume of over two million units by 2035 are the declared goal. (aum)
