Sports boat with Porsche drive sets speed record

The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom electric sports boat, developed jointly by Porsche and the Austrian Frauscher boatyard, has set a new speed record in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. The day cruiser powered by the Macan Turbo achieved an average speed of 49.84 knots (92.3 km/h) in the speed competition.
The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom used in Monaco fully complied with the series standard. The sports boat, painted in Porsche's Oak Green Metallic neo color with a closed foredeck, competed in the "Open Sea" class.
The drive of the Porsche Macan Turbo was elaborately adapted for the 8.67-meter-long and 2.49-meter-wide boat. It delivers up to 400 kW (544 hp) on the water. The battery enables ranges of up to 100 kilometers at slow speed and around 45 kilometers in cruise mode at 22 knots (approx. 41 km/h). The Frauscher is built in Ohlsdorf, Upper Austria. Porsche supplies the high-voltage battery and the drive including the control unit as pre-assembled modules. (aum)
