The Euro NCAP crash test organization has tested 16 new cars for their impact protection, accident prevention and post-crash safety. According to the results, the two new Audi models A5 PHEV and Q5, the VW Tayron and MG MG S5 EV, the Tesla Model 3 and the Toyota C-HR PHEV all achieved the highest rating of 5 stars. With the optional safety package, the Kia EV3 also achieved the top ranking. In contrast, the Euro NCAP testers only awarded four stars to the electric crossover without this package, as well as the all-electric Renault 4, Ford Tourneo Custom (including the all-electric version), Opel Grandland, the Stellantis siblings Peugeot 3008 and 5008 and the Volkswagen Transporter. Surprise: the new Dacia Bigster only achieved three stars. The Romanian C-SUV shows significant deficits, particularly in terms of safety assistants and pedestrian protection. (aum)
