With the facelift in mid-September, the DS 4 becomes the DS No. 4 with a redesigned front end and slightly longer hood. There is a choice of three drive variants: Mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and - for the first time with the new edition - an electric motor with 156 kW (213 hp) and a range of up to 450 kilometers. With the renaming, the compact model joins the new model nomenclature introduced with the No. 8. The DS No. 4 is 4.40 meters long and has retractable door handles and large 19-inch wheels as standard.
The DS No. 4 plug-in hybrid offers an electric range of up to 81 kilometers. That is 30 percent more than the previous model. The drive system combines a 180 hp (132 kW) four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an 81 kW electric motor (110 hp), which together deliver a system output of 225 hp (165 kW) and up to 360 Newton meters of torque. As a hybrid with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor, the DS delivers 145 hp (107 kW).
The interior features high-quality materials with elegant accents. A 10.25-inch digital monitor serves as the central instrument. The head-up display projects important information four meters in front of the windscreen using a virtual 21-inch display - a first step towards augmented reality. There is also a ten-inch touchscreen in the center console.
The first vehicle orders will be accepted from next month. Two equipment lines are available. Prices have not yet been announced. (aum)
