Racing technology meets small car format

Abarth is electrifying - in the truest sense of the word. With the limited-edition 600e Scorpionissima, the Italians are now rolling out their most powerful performance electric car. The small powerhouse, developed on a Formula E test bench, delivers up to 207 kW (280 hp) to the asphalt. Racing technology meets small car format - sounds fun? It is.

Even when stationary, the 600e shows that it is not on a cuddly course. Wide cheeks, 20-inch wheels and a spoiler that looks more like a circuit than city traffic. The interior is sporty: Alcantara, bucket seats, yellow stitching - the design department clearly had fun. Only in the material mix does a lot of hard plastic creep in. But there are plenty of scorpion logos on the outside and inside - the brand and star sign of company founder Carlo Abarth.

On the road, the Abarth Stromer is surprisingly well-behaved - at least for the first few meters. The hydraulic suspension irons out bumps better than you would expect. But if you let the 280 horses gallop freely, you soon realize: comfort is there, but performance doesn't come for free - especially not with the battery. Under full load, the 54 kWh shrink by the second, while the artificial engine growl from the rear loudspeaker provides the acoustic counterpart to the energy drink. However, everything can be muted again at the touch of a button.

The little Italian also shows little restraint when it comes to price: the limited Scorpionissima version costs almost 49,000 euros. The Abarth 600e Scorpionissima is loud, colorful and very fast proof that electric mobility can also be fun. At least for those who can dig deep into their pockets for it. (aum)
