Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor, which is affiliated with the Stellantis Group, is adding a range-extending variant to its C10 series. The C10 Reev combines a 158 kW (215 hp) electric motor with a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine (68 hp/50 kW), which acts as a generator to supply the 28.4 kWh battery with energy when required, which can also be charged from 30 to 80 percent in 18 minutes at a fast-charging station.
In the C10 Reev, the electric motor is primarily responsible for the drive and, according to Leapmotor, achieves an electric range of 145 kilometers as a soloist. The combustion engine then steps in and ensures a combined range of more than 900 kilometers until the 50-liter tank needs to be filled with fuel.
The technology is packaged in a design typical of this vehicle class. The smooth bodywork is pleasing and in keeping with this tacit convention. In the interior, the Chinese creatives have given the C10 Reev high-quality, well-crafted materials and at the same time eliminated analog switches so that the controls are operated via the central screen.
The C10 Reev is available from dealers for 39,100 euros. (aum)
