Hyundai has made electric mobility suitable for everyday use - the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 show that the Koreans know how to build electric cars. Now they are venturing into the territory of small electric cars and bringing the Inster onto the road. An agile city runabout with a charming design, clever ideas and practical features. And with an entry-level price of 23,900 euros, it is a serious alternative to the Citroën e-C3, Renault R5 or the upcoming VW ID.2 - with better equipment.
Despite its compact length of 3.83 meters, the Inster offers a surprising amount of space and clever details such as a sliding rear bench, folding front seats and practical storage compartments. Its playful design with pixel LEDs and beefy look makes it stand out from the crowd. There are two drive variants to choose from: 71 kW (97 PS) with a range of 327 km or 85 kW (115 PS) with 370 km. Although it lacks the fast-charging technology of the larger Hyundai models, the Inster is still suitable for everyday use with a 30-minute charging time of 10-80 percent.
In city traffic, the small Hyundai shines with its lively acceleration, agile handling and small turning circle, while on longer journeys it scores with good ride comfort and solid insulation.
The Hyundai Inster is a well thought-out, versatile small electric car that impresses with its price, space and clever features - ideal for city drivers and price-conscious e-mobilists. (aum)
