Nissan cancels merger talks with Honda

Nissan will break off merger talks with its competitor Honda, reports the news agency Reuters today, citing a source. This means that a 60 billion dollar (62.5 billion euro) merger, which would have led to the world's third largest car manufacturer, has been abandoned. The Nissan board is said to have broken off talks because the company was apparently only to operate as a subsidiary after the merger and not as a partner. (aum)
