Volkswagen sells 1.4 percent fewer cars

Volkswagen delivered around 4.8 million vehicles to customers worldwide last year. This is 1.4 percent less than in 2023. Sales by Europe's largest car manufacturer fell significantly, particularly in China, the largest market, with 2.2 million sales, and in South America with just under 480,000 deliveries. Sales there fell by 8.3 percent and 21.1 percent respectively. In contrast, VW was able to catch up strongly in North America with almost 600,000 vehicles sold and an increase of 18.2 percent.

In Germany, the brand remained the clear market leader with a 19.1% share of new registrations. Here, sales were up 3.4 percent on the previous year in a slightly declining overall market. Across Europe, the Wolfsburg-based company sold 1,254,500 cars, 1.7 percent fewer than in the previous year. (aum)
