Porsche is launching a close cooperation with the Iron Dames initiative, which has set itself the goal of strengthening the role of women in motor racing. A total of four female drivers will be at the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 R in four top series. Michelle Gatting from Denmark, Rahel Frey from Switzerland, Sarah Bovy from Belgium and Célia Martin from France will compete for the Iron Dames in Asia, Europe and the USA. They are also scheduled to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of the World Endurance Championship.
Michelle Gatting, who has been granted works driver status by Porsche, Rahel Frey and Célia Martin will compete in the World Endurance Championship in the LMGT3 class in the pink nine-eleven and will be supported by Team Manthey. In the Asian Le Mans Series, the European Le Mans Series and the North American IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, Proton Competition will support the entries.
The collaboration between Porsche Motorsport and Iron Dames is set to run for several years. The Asian Le Mans Series kicks off this weekend in Sepang with Gatting, Bovy and Martin.
Porsche customer teams have already worked successfully with the Iron Dames in recent years. In 2023, Gatting, Frey and Bovy celebrated a milestone at the wheel of the Porsche 911 RSR at the season finale in Bahrain: the first class victory for a women's trio in the World Endurance Championship. Last season, the three female racing drivers won the LMGT3 class of the four-hour European Le Mans Series race in Imola (Italy) together. Last month, Spaniard Marta García completed a successful test in the Porsche 99X Electric for Formula E. The 24-year-old is part of the Iron Dames support program. (aum)
