Stellantis tolerates HVO diesel

All new passenger car diesel models and light commercial vehicles from Stellantis can run on the alternative fuel HVO made from hydrogenated vegetable oil. This was announced by the company. The Group brands include Citroën, Fiat, Peugeot and Opel.

Certain older models with Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines also tolerate the biofuel. They can be recognized by the "XTL" symbol on the tank filler neck. However, some Euro 6 vehicles that do not have the XTL symbol are also HVO-compatible. These are models with the 1.3 Multijet, 1.6 Mulitijet, 2.0 Multijet, 2.2 Multijet and the new 2.2 Multijet 4.0 as well as the 3.0 V6 Multijet and 2.3 Multijet (F1A - Fiat Ducato).

HVO is a biofuel made from renewable raw materials. It is produced from waste materials such as vegetable oils, animal fats and used cooking oils. The hydrogenation process used to produce HVO produces a sulphur-free fuel with a low content of aromatic compounds and pollutants that burns more cleanly than diesel made from mineral oil. (aum)
