Ducati has developed a new 900 cubic meter two-cylinder. The manufacturer remains true to the 90-degree V concept. The engine has a displacement of 890 cubic centimetres and aluminum liners. It has variable valve timing and is to be installed at an angle of 20 degrees to the rear. With a weight of 54.4 kilograms, it is the brand's lightest twin to date.
Ducati has announced two power levels for different purposes: 115 hp and 120 hp (85 kW and 88 kW). Peak power is reached at 10,750 rpm in each case, while the maximum torque of 92 and 93 Newton meters respectively is available at 8250 rpm. The maximum speed is reached at 11,350 rpm. There will also be a 48 hp version (35 kW) for A2 license holders.
For use on the racetrack, the slightly more powerful version can be boosted to 126 hp (93 kW) and 98 Nm with a lighter racing exhaust system. The 115 hp version, on the other hand, has a more powerful alternator for additional consumers.
The first models with the new engine will be presented next week at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. (aum)
