Mahle makes it easier for the pedelec

Mahle offers bicycle manufacturers its new XS system for easy integration into the pedelec and greater design freedom. It relies on an external battery. The Mahle eX1 can then be combined with the X20 and X30 motors. In combination with the smaller drive, the system weighs only two and a half kilograms and generates as much torque as a 55 Newton meter mid-engine. The battery, which has a capacity of 170 kilowatt hours for everyday use, weighs 1000 grams and fits into a standard water bottle holder.

In addition, the newly developed Smart Motor Controller can be mounted inside or outside the frame. This enables minimalist, unobtrusive integration. This means that fully functional e-bikes can be built with the standard frame of an ordinary bicycle.

Thanks to a USB-C port integrated into the supplied Energy Hub charger, the eX1 battery can also serve as a range extender for an existing X20 or X30 system and as a power bank for charging devices such as phones or laptops. (aum)
