Porsche is expanding the model range of its iconic 911 brand with the purist Carrera T with six-speed manual transmission. With lightweight glazing and reduced insulation, it weighs 1478 kilograms in the lightest configuration with full bucket seats. That is over 40 kilograms less than the 911 Carrera. For the first time, the T is also available as a convertible.
The 394 hp (290 kW) 911 Carrera T develops up to 450 Newton meters of torque and, with the standard Sport Chrono Package, the Carrera T Coupé sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.7 seconds). The top speed is 295 km/h (Cabriolet: 293 km/h). When downshifting, an intermediate throttle function (auto-blip) compensates for the differences in speed between the engine and transmission on request. For the first time, Porsche is also equipping the model with specially tuned rear-axle steering in conjunction with a more direct steering ratio on the front axle. The standard adaptive sports suspension with one centimeter lowering has also been given a model-specific set-up.
Exterior features include a sticker on the rear triangular windows with a gearshift logo and the spoiler lip adopted from the GTS, as well as the vanadium gray finish of the alloy wheels, the exterior mirror caps, the inlays of the boot lid grille and the model designation at the rear. The decorative inserts in the instrument panel and the center console are in the same color, while the inserts in the door panel are made of black brushed aluminum. The shortened gearshift has an open-pore walnut laminated wood ball as a knob. A plaque with the lettering "MT" (Manual Transmission) is positioned in front of it. The gearshift logo is printed on the dashboard on the passenger side. The standard equipment also includes a leather-covered GT sports steering wheel with steering wheel heating and mode switch.
The Porsche 911 Carrera T is equipped with black, four-way electrically adjustable sports seats with Sport-Tex center panels and exclusive "Plaid" fabric pattern. The headrests feature embroidered 911 lettering. The adaptive sports seats Plus (18-way adjustable) or particularly lightweight full bucket seats are available as an option. The "Carrera T" design package is also available, which sets further accents on the exterior and interior.
The Porsche 911 Carrera T is available at prices starting at 141,700 euros, the Cabriolet costs 155,800 euros. The abbreviation "T" stands for "Touring" and goes back to Porsche's homologation of the 911 T as a touring car in 1968. (aum)
