Family station wagon, work vehicle and leisure vehicle

Are you looking for an upper mid-range estate car that doesn't come from Audi, BMW or Mercedes, stands out from the crowd and perhaps also stands out a little technically? This could be the one for you. Whether it's "Homeland" or "The Rookie": the Subaru Outback likes to make an appearance in US series. In this country, it tends to lead a shadowy existence. Nevertheless, it is one of the last true crossovers combining an estate and SUV and was even launched two years before the supposed pioneer Volvo V70 XC.

The 4.87-metre-long crossover has a 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine under the hood, which is characterized by very smooth running. However, due to the relatively modest output of 169 hp (125 kW) in view of the displacement and the continuously variable CVT transmission, the Outback has a rather reserved temperament. On the other hand, it spoils with its comfortable chassis, offers plenty of space and shines with a number of practical details. Equipped with permanent all-wheel drive, the Subaru can easily be driven within the standard range of 8.6 liters average fuel consumption.

The brand's flagship remains a car for individualists. However, it is recommended as a family estate as well as a work or leisure vehicle. The basic version is available for 43,440 euros. (aum)
