After the MT-09 this year, it is now the turn of the MT-07 for 2025 with a comprehensive model revision. Despite a large number of technical innovations, the Yamaha will be one kilogram lighter. In addition to new rims, the battery and the fork bridge made of die-cast aluminum contribute to this, as does the minimalist new fairing with bi-functional LED headlight unit. The air filter, chain, fuel filler cap and rear end have also been modified. The heavily revised frame was combined with a newly revised swingarm.
In future, the naked bike can also be ordered with the new Y-AMT automated manual transmission, in which the electronics take over the clutch and the left handlebar lever is no longer required. The standard equipment in the fourth model generation includes cruise control, two-stage traction control and a third, user-defined riding mode via app. The MT-07 also comes with a five-inch TFT color screen with smartphone connectivity and navigation.
In addition to the new fairing, Yamaha has also optimized the ergonomics. The handlebars are now almost two centimetres wider, 22 millimetres lower and one centimetre further back. The footrests are also one centimeter further back. To enhance the emotional riding experience, the 07 also has the sound amplifier with four openings in the tank fairing that is familiar from its bigger sister. The new spring elements also ensure optimized handling. An anti-hopping clutch with significantly reduced effort and, for the first time, four-piston double brake callipers are also used. The redesigned switches are intended to make operation easier. The indicators now have the familiar comfort function from the car with a quick tap and automatic switch-off. There is also an emergency brake signal that automatically activates both indicators when braking very hard to warn other road users.
The new MT-07 will be available from March. Yamaha has not yet announced prices. (aum)
