Together with the Renault Group and Mobilize, "The Mobility House" is launching a pioneering world first on the market. With the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) product "Mobilize Power", car batteries are being intelligently integrated into the electricity grid for the first time in France in a commercial and scalable product for end customers. This marks a new era in which electric vehicles not only draw energy from the grid, but also return it to the grid and thus become storage power plants.
In Japan and other countries in Asia, this is the state of the art in automotive technology. In this country, too, battery-powered electric cars are already on offer, whose batteries could provide electricity for driving and for the grid. The UK will follow France in 2025, while Germany is still developing its approach to implementing V2G technology.
In Europe, V2G technology has so far only been tested in pilot projects. But now Mobilize and The Mobility House with Renault are offering a market-ready product for the Renault 5, the Alpine A290, the AC charging station PowerBox Verso and the energy contract Mobilize Power. With this launch, The Mobility House is realizing its "Vision zero zero" and enabling emission-free and free driving for everyone. Founder and CEO Thomas Raffeiner: "Since our foundation in 2009, we have broken new and challenging ground. With the launch in France, we have reached an important milestone that proves that we are technically capable of successfully implementing V2G." Now it is also important to show in Germany that it is possible to drive an electric car free of charge and with zero emissions."
The conditions for implementing free charging still need to be created in Germany: Countries such as France and the UK are leading the way without charging double grid fees and have implemented successful processes for the use of smart meters across the country. The Mobility House is trying to actively influence the necessary regulatory adjustments in order to facilitate the implementation of this technology in Germany as well.
With its system, The Mobility House creates added value for customers and for the entire energy system: the flexible use of batteries integrates renewable energies into the electricity grid and reduces grid expansion costs. This is a significant contribution to an efficient and successful energy transition, which benefits not only the drivers of electric vehicles, but society as a whole. (aum)
