Another Chinese car brand. At the Paris Motor Show until Sunday, GAC, which claims to be the leading manufacturer, is not only showing six models with environmentally friendly drive systems. In the coming years, the company wants to "earn the deep trust and love of European consumers", as the press release proclaims in sympathetic Chinese. GAC has maintained its design center in Milan since 2022 and has set up its European headquarters in the Netherlands.
The market launch of the first models is set to begin in some European countries this year. Full coverage of the European market is to be achieved by 2028. Commenting on the company's philosophy, Feng Xingya, President of the GAC Group, said in Paris: "With the rapid changes in the global automotive industry, we continue to uphold the mindset of learning and cooperation. We want to integrate into the local market and provide more mobility opportunities for European customers through win-win partnerships with the local industry."
GAC has a long history of cooperation with Toyota and Honda. These partnerships have contributed to GAC's growth. GAC is obviously also looking for cooperation with European partners. This will be one of the tasks for Thomas Schemera, with more than 30 years of automotive experience as global Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GAC International. He will also be responsible for the European transit warehouse for parts supply, which is due to be completed next year. By 2028, GAC plans to set up a service warranty system for most European countries. Buyers will receive an eight-year or 160,000 kilometer vehicle warranty (5 years / 150,000 kilometers) for PHEVs.
During the show, GAC released its first strategic model for Europe, the all-electric, hardcore intelligent Aion V. This SUV model was customized by GAC's global R&D and design team to meet the preferences of European consumers. Its design and electric technology are intended to provide a high-level "intelligent" driving experience and safety guarantees. In addition to the Aion V, the GAC stand in Paris 2024 featured three other pure electric models: the Aion Y Plus, Hyptec SSR and Hyptec HT, as well as two plug-in hybrid models: the Trumpchi E9 and Trumpchi ES9.
