KTM takes interaction to a new level

KTM wants to take HMI interaction on the motorcycle to a new level. A new TFT touchscreen instrument cluster with improved connectivity is to be introduced next year. There will be a vertical version with an eight-inch screen diagonal and a horizontal display with 8.8 inches. The switches on the handlebars will also be redesigned to simplify operation.

The TFT dashboard with Android Auto has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and offers five layout options with split-screen view. 256,000 color elements ensure better readability in all lighting conditions, which is over three times more than before. The screen also has an anti-reflective, anti-fingerprint and anti-glare coating. The virtual buttons can be used to switch model-dependent additional functions such as handlebar or seat heating and fog lights on and off. The control units on the handlebars include a special button for the driving mode and a new five-way joystick. All buttons have been redesigned and are backlit. (aum)
