Porsche is launching a new 911 GT3 to mark its 25th anniversary. It is available in two versions: as a two-seater sports car with an affinity for the racetrack and a rear wing, and as a more discreet - optionally four-seater - road version with a touring package. With the Weissach package and the Clubsport package for motorsport at no extra cost, as well as the lightweight package for the Touring, both can be further customized according to taste and intended use.
The 4.0-liter boxer engine delivers 510 hp (375 kW) and 450 Newton meters even in the anniversary year, despite stricter emission standards, but with less vehicle weight. The lightweight aluminum wheel reduces the unsprung masses by a total of more than 1.5 kilograms. Magnesium wheels are available as an option with the Weissach package or the lightweight construction package. They save nine kilograms. A new lightweight lithium-ion battery also saves four kilograms. In its lightest configuration, the new 911 GT3 weighs just 1420 kilograms.
The transmission ratio has been shortened. With the dual-clutch transmission, the GT3 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 311 km/h. The manual transmission takes 3.9 seconds. The manual transmission takes 3.9 seconds and is two kilometers per hour faster. The chassis of the new models has also been refined thanks to borrowings from the GT3 RS, increasing downforce and reducing pitching.
The new GT3s have a sharpened design at the front and rear as well as aerodynamics that have been adapted accordingly. In both variants, a new contour of the front diffuser, an improved shape of the front lip and modified fins on the underbody increase downforce and optimize the airflow. Newly designed Matrix LED main headlights, which are optionally available with a white accent ring on the 911 GT3, bundle all the lighting functions of the 911 and make the additional lights in the front apron superfluous. This enables an enlarged air intake area and a clearly structured look. At the rear, the diffuser, air intakes and boot lid have been redesigned. The rear wing of the 911 GT3 with the Weissach package has new, angled sideplates, and the Touring package is available for the first time from the market launch with the model change. The term "Touring Package" goes back to an equipment variant of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1973. It has been part of the GT3 range since 2017. In the new 911 GT3, it gains even more independence, symbolized by the "911 GT3 touring" lettering on the boot lid grille. The 911 GT3 with touring package dispenses with the fixed wing. An extendable rear spoiler with a tear-off edge, the so-called Gurney flap, and an adapted fin design on the underbody ensure aerodynamic balance. The interior offers high-quality leather upholstery and a classic, sporty ambience. For the first time, an optional rear seat system is available for the version with the Touring package.
A new lightweight sports bucket seat with folding backrest and CfK seat shell is also available as an option. The seat is equipped with an integrated thorax airbag, electric height and manual fore/aft adjustment, and three-stage seat heating is available as an option. Part of the headrest upholstery can be removed. This improves the ergonomics for most drivers when wearing a helmet on a circuit. The optional roll bar also demonstrates the proximity to motorsport.
The Porsche 911 GT3 will be available from the end of the year at prices starting at 209,000 euros. The Weissach package costs 18,076 euros, the lightweight package is available for 33,867 euros. Exclusively for owners of the 911 GT3 and the 911 GT3 Touring, there is once again a specially designed chronograph. (aum)
