Ferrari presented its new F 80 super sports car today. With a system output of 1200 hp (883 kW), it is the most powerful production vehicle from Maranello to date. The F 80 combines a V6 turbo with 800-volt hybrid technology. For the first time in a Ferrari, an e-turbo is used, with an electric motor located between the turbine and compressor.
The displacement of the 120-degree V6 is 2992 cubic centimeters, with a peak output of 900 hp (662 kW). The six-cylinder engine only reaches the limiter at 9200 rpm and delivers up to 850 Newton meters of torque. The electrically driven front axle (e-4WD) and the rear motor-generator unit of the hybrid system contribute a further 221 kW (300 hp). Shifting is via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission from Formula 1.
In an effort to achieve good dynamics and a slim layout, the F 80 has a special seat configuration that Ferrari calls "1+". The driver sits quite centered in front of a particularly small steering wheel, but his position still allows for a co-driver who sits a little further back. The 4.84 meter long Ferrari F 80 with its carbon fiber body has an unladen weight of 1525 kilograms and is 1.14 meters flat. It reaches a top speed of 350 km/h and accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds. It reaches 200 km/h in a further 3.6 seconds.
Homologation of the vehicle has not yet been completed. The price is likely to be in the region of 3.5 million euros. A total of 799 units are to be built. (aum)
