BMW is completely realigning the Design department under the leadership of Adrian van Hooydonk. A cross-brand design team is to be launched on October 1, 2024, which will be oriented towards the transformation of the company. For example, color and material design will be bundled, the BMW brand team will be divided into two studios and the future topic of "Advanced Design" will be strengthened.
Van Hooydonk has brought Maximilian Missoni into the team for the design of the BMW upper mid-range and luxury class models as well as Alpina. After holding various management positions at Volkswagen and Volvo, Missoni was most recently responsible for the design of Polestar. Oliver Heilmer, previously Head of Mini Design, will in future be responsible for the design of all BMW compact and mid-range models as well as BMW M.
Claudia Braun heads the newly created cross-brand department for color and material design for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. After gaining experience at Porsche, Daimler and Volvo, she has already been responsible for color and materials for the BMW brand since April 2024. Domagoj Dukec, previously responsible for the BMW Design Studio, will take over as Head of Design for Rolls-Royce, including Bespoke and Coachbuild. His predecessor Anders Warming will be responsible for all Advanced Design topics and for the subsidiary BMW Group Designworks. He takes over this function from Holger Hampf, who will be responsible for the design of the Mini brand. (aum)
