At the suggestion of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the World Motor Sport Council of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) has elected the President of the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD), Lutz Leif Linden, as President of the FIA Manufacturers' Committee in an online vote. As such He thus forms the interface between the automobile manufacturers active in motorsport worldwide and the various FIA institutions that govern the different types of motorsport globally, such as formula racing, GT racing and rallying. He will also have a seat on the FIA Circuit Sport Committee and will remain President of the FIA GT Commission.
Lutz Leif Linden, who holds a degree in industrial engineering, started his professional career in Formula 1 management. Since 2018, he has been working in a responsible function for the AvD, which he has headed as President since the summer of 2024. "I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in me and look forward to the future cooperation in the committee with all car manufacturers that are active in motorsport - now also those outside the GT series. This is a challenge that I will be happy to take on," says Linden.
GT racing series in motorsport are booming worldwide, with a high level of team participation and more well-known manufacturers than in any other category. A new chapter in terms of sustainability will even be opened in November 2024: 100 percent sustainable fuel will be used for the first time at the FIA World Cup in Macau. (aum)
