Porsche Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade: A buzzing piece of jewelry
Together with Porsche Asia Pacific, the special request experts at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have created an extraordinary Taycan Turbo S. A special pigment paint gives the all-electric sports car an exclusive look. The color can change significantly depending on the incidence of light and viewing angle. Inspired by the gemstone jade, the front part of the unique model shimmers in various greenish-golden facets, while the color changes to a bluish-black hue towards the rear. This Chromaflair paint finish is presented by Porsche here for the first time with a color gradient.
Chromaflair pigments contain wafer-thin "flakes" that appear in different colors depending on the viewing angle of the observer. These so-called flakes consist of an opaque and reflective core layer of aluminum, which in turn is surrounded by a glass-like layer. Different colors are produced depending on the thickness of this transparent layer. Overall, the flakes are only about 1µm flat. By comparison, a human hair is around 50 times as thick.
The paint is applied by hand with great effort, which alone takes around 80 working hours. The chosen color combination is "Urban Bamboo", a bright green with yellow and gold tones, and "Shifting Carbon", a dark grey with black and blue tones. It culminates in the name of the vehicle: Celestial Jade. In Asia in particular, jade is a precious and valuable material that is associated with happiness and longevity.
The unique piece is charged with even more Far Eastern symbolism by a specially designed logo, which can be seen on the door sills of the front and rear doors, in the door projector and on all headrests. It is inspired by "LongMa", a mythical creature with a dragon's head ("Long") and the body of a horse ("Ma"), which is said to have great power and strength and is also regarded as a symbol of good luck. 2024 is also the Chinese zodiac year of the dragon. The horse, in turn, is a reference to the Taycan, whose name means "young horse" in Turkish.
The special edition is based on the updated 2024 Taycan, which has more power and range as well as faster acceleration. The Turbo S with Launch Control develops up to 700 kW (952 PS) at peak power and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds. This makes it another 0.4 seconds faster than its predecessor.
The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade celebrated its world premiere at the regional Taycan Launch Event in Singapore. The one-off will then be on display in Southeast Asia, with stops in Malaysia and Thailand, before being auctioned off for charity in the first quarter of 2025. (aum
