Volvo XC90 continues to drive with combustion engine
Volvo is also continuing to rely on combustion technology. Alongside the recently presented top-of-the-range EX90 electric model, the Chinese-Swedish company will be sending its combustion counterpart, the XC90, into German showrooms at the end of the year. The new edition of the previous SUV top model will be offered as a mild hybrid petrol B5 AWD and as a plug-in hybrid T8 AWD. The plan to build only BEVs by 2030 is therefore no longer valid. As "the premium market for all-electric vehicles is still developing in several key markets, plug-in hybrids remain crucial to the company's plans for sales and profit growth in the coming years", the press release states.
The XC90 is available in the four equipment lines Core, Plus and Ultra (T8 AWD) or Ultimate (B5 AWD), each with seven seats. The mild hybrid petrol model starts at 79,890 euros, while the plug-in hybrid costs at least 87,490 euros. (aum)
