Hyundai has been selling the Santa Fe in Germany since 2000, and it is a "success story" for the Koreans with a total of 83,700 sales. In the fifth generation, which is now rolling into dealerships, the SUV with its angular design and huge interior, which can fit five, six or seven seats plus luggage, presents itself as a veritable flagship - at least until the now-announced all-electric Ioniq 9 takes over the title next year. In contrast, the Santa Fe will have to make do with two electrified drive systems.
Indeed, the new Hyundai Santa Fe with its monolithic design and characteristic "H" shaped headlights is a real eye-catcher. Inspired by the Korean camping culture "Chabak", the space giant not only offers a top-flat lying surface, but also practical features such as a panoramic glass roof and reclining seats that turn every outdoor trip into a luxurious experience.
However, the engine performance falls somewhat short of expectations. Although the two hybrid drives move the vehicle, which weighs over two tons, forward with aplomb, it is a little louder acoustically when overtaking quickly - and the limited electric range and charging power of the plug-in version is also no longer up to date. But whether it's a family outing, a spontaneous camping trip or a spacious shuttle - anyone who values comfort, space and style will be delighted with the Santa Fe. The luxurious space giant starts at 56,700 euros in Germany. (aum)
