In order to be CO2-neutral in Europe in 2050, Toyota is not relying solely on fully electric vehicles and is working on several solutions because, according to the company, "we have recognized that customers have different interests". In addition to developing battery-electric models, the world's largest car manufacturer is also working on the development of combustion engines that run on climate-friendly e-fuels. Green hydrogen also plays an important role.
The brand is demonstrating how hydrogen-powered vehicles can be used at the Summer Olympics and the Paralympics. Toyota has been the official mobility partner of the Olympic Games since 2015. A total of 500 Mirai vehicles with fuel cells are being used to transport athletes and officials and will be integrated into the French capital's existing 1000-strong Mirai cab fleet after the Games. "Toyota believes that hydrogen will be one of the many building blocks for a climate-friendly society," explains the company. Fuel cell buses are also being used in Paris. (aum)
