Mazda remains on the road to success

After a record year, Mazda remains on the road to success in the first quarter of the new financial year that began in April. The company sold 309,000 cars worldwide from April to June, maintaining the high level of the previous year. In Europe, the brand grew by twelve percent to 49,000 units and increased its market share by 0.1 percentage points to 1.2 percent. With 12,182 new registrations, Germany remains the largest market, ahead of the UK with around 7,000 deliveries.

In North America, Mazda increased its sales by 14 percent to 146,000 units, recording the highest sales ever achieved there in the first quarter of a financial year. In China, Mazda's largest market in Asia, 18,000 vehicles were sold, a decrease of nine percent. On the domestic market in Japan, the company sold a total of 29,000 vehicles from April to June, which was also less than in the previous financial year.

The company achieved a quarterly net turnover of just under 1.21 trillion yen (7.2 billion euros) and an operating profit of 50.4 billion yen (300 million euros), an increase of 68 percent compared to the same period last year. Net profit amounted to 49.8 billion yen
(296.4 million euros). This is the equivalent of almost 50 million euros more than a year ago.

Mazda is targeting sales of around 1.4 million cars for the financial year ending March 2025. That would be a good 160,000 vehicles more than in 2023/24. (aum)
