Lucid Europe boss Alexander Lutz: "We want to build the best car in the world."

The American electric vehicle specialist Lucid is expanding into Europe and taking on the competition from established premium manufacturers. The young brand is relying on a combination of software experts from Silicon Valley and automotive development specialists in order to "concentrate the best of both worlds", according to European CEO Alexander Lutz. Next year, the model range will be expanded to include the Gravity SUV, followed by a mid-range model in 2026.

In Germany, the brand is currently represented at four locations in Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Two more studios in Berlin and Stuttgart will follow next year. The largest shareholder is the Public Investment Fund from Saudi Arabia. The British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin will use Lucid technology for its electric models, and other manufacturers are also interested in Lucid's software and hardware. (aum)
