With a record attendance of over 94,000 visitors from 86 nations, the Word Ducati Week at the Misano race track came to an end at the weekend. The world premiere of the new Panigale V4 was also celebrated. Meet-and-greets and autograph sessions with the factory riders, riding courses and test rides on the road, hot laps and test rides in the Lamborghini, talks and stuntmen shows as well as a whole host of activities on the racetrack provided a varied program. Celebrations also honored 30 years of the Ducati 916, whose owners were the protagonists of an exciting parade led by Troy Bayliss and Carl Fogarty. The prototypes of the Desmo 450 MX, with which the brand will be involved in motocross sport in the future, provided a glimpse into the future.
The new Panigale V4 S competed in the Race of Champions, in which 15 motorcycles took to the track in special liveries that were faithfully modeled on the motorcycles with which Ducati riders compete in the world championships. The race was won by reigning Moto GP world champion Francesco Bagnaia, ahead of Andrea Iannone and Marc Marquez. The overall race pace was a whole second better than the previous edition of WDW. After the winners' ceremony, "La Notte dei Campioni" was celebrated with thousands of visitors to DJ music and a final fireworks display.
The signed motorcycles, one-offs in race configuration, which are characterized by the riders' paintwork and the fork bridge lasered with the name of the race and the rider's logo, were traditionally offered for sale to a selection of enthusiastic customers and were snapped up online within a few hours.
The event, which was supported by 240 official Ducati clubs, also included the motorcycle parade on Friday evening, which completely filled the Misano circuit and then led along the coast to Riccione, where the celebrations took place. Ducati boss Claudio Domenicali led the Moto GP and Superbike riders as well as Mayor Fabrizio Piccioni and the Ducati management.
A portion of the proceeds from World Ducati Week was donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to combating all forms of gender-based violence. (aum)
