Pascal Wehrlein from the factory-owned Porsche Formula E Team is the new Formula E World Champion. At the finale in London, the German took the world championship lead in the first race from Jaguar driver Mitch Evans, who had led the competition for a long time. In the second race on Sunday, a second place on the podium was enough for overall victory. Conversely, the Brits were able to snatch the manufacturers' trophy from the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. Jaguar TCS Racing also finished ahead of the works team from Weissach in the team classification. DS Automobile took third place here.
Pascal Wehrlein, who has been competing for Porsche in the Formula E World Championship since 2020, is the first German single-seater world champion since Nico Rosberg became Formula 1 champion in 2016. For the Porsche works team, it is the first world championship title at the end of the fifth season in the electric racing series. They also set a new record with seven victories in one season. The Porsche 99X Electric took half of all victories this year, more than any other vehicle in the field. (aum)
