Stellantis invests a further 55 million dollars in air cabs
Following successful test flights, Stellantis will invest a further 55 million US dollars (over 51 million euros) in Archer Aviation. Last year, the automotive group had already invested twice this amount in the manufacturer of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL).
The new investment builds on the previously announced purchase of 8.3 million shares on the open market. Archer plans to complete a production facility in the state of Georgia this year, which is designed to build up to 650 aircraft per year.
The vision of both companies: Commutes in cars of 60 to 90 minutes are to be replaced by ten- to 20-minute flights in electric air cabs. The Midnight model from Arche is controlled by a pilot and has space for four passengers. (aum)
