With the new C3 Aircross, Citroën is undercutting the price of the Dacia Duster. The brand is thus continuing the strategy begun with the C3 saloon of offering affordable mobility in the B-segment. With a base price of 18,490 euros for the petrol version and 26,490 euros for the electric version, the two versions are the cheapest representatives of their kind on the market. In addition to the 100 hp (75 kW) petrol version and the 83 kW (113 hp) electric version, a hybrid version with 100 kW (136 hp) is also coming onto the market, which Nicolas Mannot, responsible for pricing at Citroën, promises will cost around 25,000 euros.
Only two equipment variants, "You" and "Max", will be available at dealerships when the car is launched in the fall. The design has been largely adopted from the C3. The Aircross uses the Group's Smart Car platform, which is designed for the various drive options. As a five-seater, the 4.39-meter-long SUV achieves "the most generous space ratio in the segment", explains a brand spokesperson.
In addition to the version with conventional seating, the range also includes a seven-seater version for an extra charge of 850 euros, although the seats in the third row are suitable for young family members at best. As a seven-seater, the second row is also somewhat cramped and the luggage compartment (460 liters in the five-seater) largely disappears. Citroën offers a sleek roof box as a replacement. (aum)
