The first officially certified round-the-world trip in an electric car has been completed: adventurer Lexie Alford covered over 30,000 kilometers in a pre-production model of the Ford Explorer and crossed 27 countries on all six continents. The US-American returned to her starting point in Nice today after more than six months of driving. Pre-sales for the E-SUV produced in Cologne also started at the same time. The price for the base model with a stationary battery, which is not yet available, is 42,500 euros.
The Ford Explorer is initially available as a rear-wheel drive model with 210 kW (286 hp) and as an all-wheel drive version with two engines and 250 kW (340 hp). Both have the larger "Extended Range" battery, which stands for standard ranges of over 600 kilometers. Prices start at 49,500 euros. (aum)
