Following the Corsa, Opel is now also offering the Astra as a 48-volt hybrid. The drive system consists of a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 136 hp (100 kW), which is supported by a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor. This takes the strain off the three-cylinder engine when starting off and accelerating and ensures standard fuel consumption of around five liters per 100 kilometers. At low speeds, a few hundred meters can be covered on electricity alone. The Astra Hybrid accelerates to 100 km/h in nine seconds (Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid: 9.3 seconds) and is capable of speeds of up to 20 km/h. Prices start at 36,430 euros for the GS version of the saloon. (aum)
