Mercedes-Benz has undertaken a third long-distance journey with the Vision EQXX. One battery charge was sufficient for over 1000 kilometers on the Arabian Peninsula. The streamlined study with its drag coefficient of 0.17 achieved an average consumption of just 7.4 kWh, which corresponds to 0.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The 180 kW (245 hp) technology carrier achieved an average speed of 79.4 km/h and a top speed of 140 km/h. The journey from Riyadh to Dubai led through both busy cities and the open desert. At the end, the battery still had enough power for another 300 kilometers.
The sunny Saudi Arabia offered the engineers the opportunity to closely examine the performance of the Vission EQXX's solar roof. The 117 solar cells supply various auxiliary consumers with electricity, which reduces the energy requirements of the high-voltage system and further increases overall efficiency. On the trip to Dubai, 1.8 kWh of solar power was generated, which increased the range by around 24 kilometers. (aum)
