Skoda has started series production of the fourth Superb generation at the modernized Volkswagen plant in Bratislava. Initially, it will only be the Combi's turn, with the saloon following in the middle of next year. The strategic relocation of production to Slovakia will increase capacity for the Octavia at the Czech plant in Kvasiny. In return, additional units of battery-electric model series will roll off the production line at the Mladá Boleslav site. The move is part of the "Beta+" project, which utilizes synergies in the production network and increases efficiency. Skoda is not only responsible for the development of the Superb, but also the new VW Passat, both of which are manufactured on the same production line. (aum)
