The Ford Transit Courier is the first van this year to achieve "Platinum" status with Euro NCAP. The consumer protection organization praised the van's good and well-functioning safety equipment, which is on a par with that of a passenger car. It was awarded 93 percent of the possible points. Euro NCAP rates the safety equipment of light commercial vehicles with ratings ranging from "bronze" to "silver" and "gold" to "platinum". However, a model can also fail.
Ford also offers the small Transit as the Tourneo Courier high-roof estate in a passenger car version. These are tested separately and differently by Euro NCAP. (aum)
